Bounteous Sea FR399, off Peterhead, early 1980s
The seine netter Bounteous Sea was built as Honeydew FR399 by J & G Forbes of Sandhaven in 1967. She was a wooden motor vessel with a length of 22.1m, a beam of 6.25m and a depth of 3.38m and was 49grt. As built, she was fitted with a 325bhp Caterpillar diesel. Her first owners were James West & Others of Cairnbulg. In 1977, she was sold to Andrew T Cardno & others of St Combs. She then became Bounteous Sea FR399. In 1991, her engine was replaced by a 365bhp Caterpillar diesel. In 1997, she became Aquarius PD790, after being sold to unknown Peterhead owners. Later in 1997, she was sold to Barry Faulkner of Clogher Head. She then became Bounteous Sea DA10, after being registered in Drogheda. Her fishing registration was cancelled in 2001. In 2003, she was converted into a dive support vessel by her new owners Orkney & Shetland Charters, of Holm, Orkney. She was renamed Valkyrie in the same year. In 2017, her engine was replaced by a 500bhp Cummins diesel. Modifications over the years had increased her gross tonnage to 106grt. In 2019, she was known to be still based in Orkney. In 2023, there are no records of the boats existence.
