Built by the East Fife Boat Building Company which was George Forbes, ex-Sandhaven, the yard closed in 1938 due to lack of orders and he relocated to Peterhead. He was brought to Cellardyke by Provost William Carstairs to build the 'Royal Sovereign', KY75, in 1936 as a replacement for the 'Gleanaway', KY40, the first successful motor drifter.
