Small cannon trawled up in the nets of the 'Dewy Rose' KY249 owned by Philip Hughes of St Monans and brought ashore February 1968. It was stored for a time in the shed of J N Miller & Son boatbuilders before being transferred to the the Museum of Antiquities (now renamed the National Museum of Scotland) in Edinburgh for conservation.

The barrel was 123cm long and was bored for 4-pound roundshot. The wooden carriage, together with three of its four original wheels, survived. It was discovered to have been manufactured in Falkirk between 1820 and 1850 for use on board merchant ships. It is still held by NMS.
