Portrait of a fishwife carrying baskets.
Portrait of a fishwife carrying baskets. The woman is wearing traditional fishwife costume, and is carrying a back basket (called an Arbroath rip) and two arm creels. Her hairstyle suggests a date of the 1920s. She is standing at the door of a customer, although it was unusual for fishwives to wear their "gala" costume for work so the photograph may have been posed.

Original - Mrs Kirk, Pittenweem.
