Postcard entitled 'Sunny' Charlie, Cullen'.

Charlie Moonie was a Frenchman who lived as a hermit for about 15 years in a hut he built on the seashore, four miles from Cullen.

His staple diet consisted of fish he caught, vegetables he grew, and bread he baked. His sole companion was his cat. People came from far and wide to see him although he was reluctant to talk and, if questioned, he went into this hut. This gave people the idea he was a spy. Before WWII, authorities ordered him to return to France and demolished his hut.
