Commander R.G Haines of Kelvin Hughes. and Admiral Sir John Frewel looking at an example of the world's first echo sounder, a Kelvin Hughes MS3, dating back to 1928.

Kelvin Hughes pioneered the echo sounder in co-operation wth the British Admiralty in 1926. This particular MS3 had just been taken off a Norwegian trawler after 38 years service.
