'Astral', INS116 alongside railway pier
Dual purpose boat 'Astral', INS116 coming alongside the railway pier in Oban, 1988.

‘Astral’ was built in 1975 by Alexander Noble & Sons Ltd. of Girvan as the ‘Wanderer II’, for David & K. Gibson & partners of Dunure. She was launched on the 10th of December 1975 and registered in Ballantrae as BA76.

Her dimensions at build are given as: tonnage: 50, length 64ft (19.5m), breadth 21ft 6” (6.55m), depth 8ft (2.44m) and she was fitted with a single-screw 450 BHP Kelvin engine and rigged for seine-netting. Her official number was A11745.
