'The Mona' lifeboat washed ashore in Broughty Ferry sands
'The Mona' lifeboat washed ashore in Broughty Ferry sands after she was lost with all hands, 1959.

RNLB Mona was a Watson-Class lifeboat based at Broughty Ferry. She capsized, with the loss of her entire crew of eight men, during an attempt to rescue the crew of the North Carr Light Ship which was adrift.

The Mona was built in 1935, and, in her time, saved 118 lives. After the disaster, she was burned on the beach and a memorial erected to the crew.
