Wreck at Isle of May, 1937
Wreck of the passenger steamer 'Island' of Copenhagen at Isle of May, Firth of Forth, April 1937.

The 'Island', built in 1915, was travelling from Copenhagen to Iceland via Leith when she ran aground in thick fog on 13 April. He crew and 28 passengers were all rescued by the Anstruther lifeboat and Fishery Protection vessel 'Brenda'. Initially it was hoped that the ship could be saved, however, she was declared a total loss and the ship's contents and fittings salvaged.

Wreckage of the hull can still be seen among the rocks on the May Island
