The fishermen are wearing their "good" clothes (kept for weekends and for wearing ashore when fishing away from home) including fashionable caps, pressed trousers and polished shoes. They wear the dark blue hand-knitted jerseys (known elsewhere as ganseys) typical of fishermen and two are posing with unlit cigarettes.
