Group portrait of Dalintober fishermen, Campbeltown, c.1910.
Group portrait of Dalintober fishermen, Campbeltown, c.1910.

Flat caps were worn by most of the men, while waistcoats were worn by older, retired men. Some are wearing working attire - dark blue jerseys, and thick dark blue trousers.

Dalintober, now part of Campbeltown, was once a separate community with its own small harbour. There were four major fishing families between 1883-1934: the MacMillan, McKinlay, McGeachy, and Martin families. Members of each are pictured here;

L-R: Andrew McKinlay, James McEachran, Campbell Martin, Michael Brodie, John McKinlay, James Finn, Neil Bell, James Smith, Angus MacMillan, Alexander MacMillan, Neil MacMillan, Malcolm McGougan, Donald McKay, John Taylor, Duncan McGeachy, Duncan McSporran, Henry Martin, John McGeachy, and Archibald Taylor.

Seated, front: Donald McCallum, Alex Finn, James McKinlay, and David Paterson.
Seated on the wall of the fishermen’s shelter built in 1913: William McKinlay, William Martin.
