Ringnetters in harbour, Peel, Isle of Man, c.1948. Vessels pictured include, R-L: 'Escallonia', CN110; 'Lily Oak', CN131; and 'Glen Carradale', CN253. ‘Escallonia’ was built in 1936 by W. Weatherhead, Cockenzie, for J. McCrindle, Maidens, Ayrshire. She was bought by Alexander Galbraith, Carradale, in 1947, and registered CN 110. ‘Lily Oak’ was built as BCK 94 by J. Noble, Fraserburgh, in 1936. She was bought into Carradale in 1948 and registered CN 131. Her first skipper was Duncan McDougall; by 1954, her skipper was Matthew McDougall. ‘Glen Carradale’ CN253 was built by Walter Reekie, St Monans, in 1933, for Lawrence McBride, Carradale, and in 1941 ownership passed to Alexander Sharp McBride. She was sold in 1955 to Alasdair Gibson, Lochbuie, Mull. Original image from A Martin, Campbeltown.
