Newtongrange silver band participating in Fisherman's Walk, Fisherrow, 1979.
Newtongrange silver band participating in Fisherman's Walk, Fisherrow, 1979.

The band was essentially a Miners band, since Newtongrange is in the area of the Bilston Glen colliery and the other mines thereabout. It is believed that when fishing was bad the men used to find work at the pits, especially Prestongrange, hence the colliery connections.
