'Stella Nova' FR271
'Stella Nova', FR271. 1982. Purser.

‘Stella Nova’ was built by Ankerconsult A/S in Bergen, Norway in 1967 as ‘Stella Nova’ GG 435 for Swedish owners based in Öckerö.

‘Stella Nova’ was a very modern boat for its time. Built as a combined side trawler and purse seine boat, it was the first boat in the Nordic countries to be equipped with RSW tanks. It was also equipped with side propellers. ‘Stella Nova’ was also the first to deliver the catch directly to tankers.

She was sold in 1979 to George Duthie Watt et al. in Aberdeen, becoming ‘Stella Nova’ FR271.

In December 1978, a new main engine was installed and in 1986 the boat had a full shelterdeck fitted.

In 1988 ‘Stella Nova’ was sold to brothers William and Andrew Whyte and the name was changed to ‘Grateful’ FR 271. She was scrapped in 2001.
