'Arctic Challenger' GN22
The stern trawler 'Arctic Challenger' GN22 at Plymouth in 1981.

Built by Clelands Shipbuilding Co Ltd, of Wallsend (Yard no: 330), for Boyd Line of Hull. She was launched on 13/2/1975 and completed on 1/5/1975. She was managed by William Liston Ltd of Granton.
She had a length of 137ft and a beam of 31ft. Her gross tonnage was 402 tons. She was powered by a 1,700bhp Mirrlees Blackstone 4 stroke 16-cylinder diesel.
She was based at Granton, until the port closed in 1978. After Granton closed, she was transferred to Hull.
In 1993, she became 'Arctic Challenger' LO342. In the same year, she was bought by Terry Taylor and renamed 'Onward Challener'.
In 1998, she was sold to Norwegian owners, who converted her into a seismic support vessel. She was then renamed 'Skude Jura'.
On 7th October 2002, she ran aground near Hammerfest, Norway and was wrecked. Her Captain was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was jailed for 30 days.
