'Glen Helen' FD220 and 'Peter Scott' H519, both pursers. 1981. Original photo taken by Reg Weir. 'Glen Helen' was built by Richard Dunston Ltd of Hessle (Yard no: 892), for J. Marr & Son Ltd, Fleetwood, as 'Velia' FD220. She was launched 4/6/1973 and completed in September 1973. Her length was 108ft, and her beam was 27ft 4in. She was 309 gross tons. She was powered by a 1,250bhp Mirrless Blackstone 4 stroke 8-cylinder diesel. Although, registered in Fleetwood, she was based in Aberdeen in 1978. There she was owned by J Marr (Aberdeen) Ltd. In 1979, she was converted into a purse seiner/ stern trawler and renamed 'Glen Helen' FD220. After this she no longer worked from Aberdeen. In 1982, she was sold to South African owners and then became 'Suiderkus' L180. She was scrapped in 2018. IMO: 7321192. Purse seiner 'Peter Scott' was built in Nantes, France in 1949. In the early 1980s she was owned by Newington (Purse Seiners) Ltd. of Hull. She was sold to Chile where she was burnt out in 1989 and converted into a floating pontoon.
