The Loch Fyne skiff ‘Britannia’ at Tarbert quay alongside an unidentified skiff which has a full load of herring for discharging, c 1895.

‘Britannia’, 32.5 ft. in overall length, was built in 1893 by James Fyfe, Port Bannatyne, and registered AG239. Her original owner, Dugald MacFarlane, Tarbert, died in 1899 and was succeeded by his son James. Her neighbour-boat was ‘Goldfinder’ AG217. In 1907, the port of registration for Loch Fyne fishing boats was trandferred from Ardrishaig (AG) to Tarbert (TT), and ‘Britannia’ was re-registered TT69.
