'Linnor' A171
'Linnor' A171 in the Irish Sea, 1978. This was just after her refit.

Skipper is Svend Ayelson AKA "Venner" of Whitehaven. Seen here on the roof of the wheelhouse.

She is a Danish type anchor-seiner built at Buckie. Several of these vessels were built there for Danish fishermen who came to England during the Second World War and settled in ports such as Grimsby (where they eventually provided the bulk of the port's inshore fleet), Fleetwood and Whitehaven.

In the Irish Sea, anchor-seiners working from Whitehaven specialise in plaice and other quality flatfish.
