Description
Grampian Petrel A412 at sea. Steel side trawler built by John Lewis & Sons Ltd of Aberdeen (Yard no: 289), for the Seaward Fishing Co Ltd, as Seaward Petrel A412. She was launched in 5/10/1959 and completed in December 1959. Her length was 104ft 3in and her beam was 23ft 1in. She was 214 gross tons. She was powered by a 710bhp Mirrless Blackstone 4 stroke 8-cylinder diesel. In 1972, her engine was replaced by a 710bhp Mirrless Blackstone 2 stroke 8-cylinder diesel. In 1974, the vessel was owned by Bruce Wood Ltd. In 1981, she was sold to George Craig & Sons Ltd. She was then converted for pair trawling. In 1982, she became Grampian Petrel A412. As a pair trawler, she was partnered with Grampian Quest A289. In 1984, she was converted into an oil rig safety vessel. She was sold in 1992 and renamed Sea Guard I. As of 2020, she was still listed on Marine Traffic. However, as there are no further details of her existence, she was most likely scrapped sometime previously. IMO: 5316973.
