'Glen Rushen' FD221 in south west England, early 1980s.

Original photo taken by Reg Weir.

Built by Richard Dunston Ltd of Hessle (Yard no: 893), for J. Marr & Son Ltd, Fleetwood, as the stern trawler 'Collena' FD221. She was launched 3/7/1973 and completed in November 1973.

Her length was 108ft, and her beam was 27ft 4in. She was 309 gross tons. She was powered by a 1,250bhp Mirrless Blackstone 4 stroke 8-cylinder diesel.
On her maiden voyage to the Faroe Islands, her engine was badly damaged by an explosion. Due to the damage incurred, her engine had to be replaced.
After repairs, she was based in Aberdeen until 1979.

In 1979, she was converted into a purse seiner/trawler and renamed 'Glen Rushen' FD221.

In 1987, the vessel was substantially converted solely for use as a purse seiner and renamed 'Omega B'. She was then jointly owned by Andrew Marr International and Victor Buschini.

In 1998, she was sold to Gustus AB of Gothenburg, Sweden and renamed 'Sunnano' CG912. Due to numerous conversions after 1979, she was no longer recognizable as 'Collena' FD221, by the time she was scrapped at Frederikshavn, Denmark in 2008.
