Whaler flensing a sperm whale
Whaler flensing a sperm whale on whaling factory ship.

The scars on the sperm whale are thought be have been caused by a squid.

The small boat at the right hand side is being transported to South Georgia for use by scientists.

It is believed this factory ship is either the 'Southern Harvester' or the 'Southern Venturer', both of which were owned by Salvesens, based in Leith, Edinburgh.
