Rab Fairnie was the Skipper of five fisherrow boats and crewmen of the biggest fifie 'Mother's Joy' ever to sail out of an east coast port. He also served at the Dardanelles and Gallipoli in the WWI and was awarded the D.C.M.

Gordon Clarkson was the curator of the Scottish Fisheries Museum.
