Sir Archibald was an aristocrat who flew with the Royal Air Force and Bob Fairnie, known locally as 'Ricco', was a great fisherman and personality in Fisherrow. He won the DCM in WWI.

Sir Archibald owned Pinkie House in Musselburgh, where the gala and sports were held after the Fisherrow fisherman's walk. It is now Loretto School. It was built and owned by the Earl of Dunfermline, Alexander Seton.
