John Doig was born in August 1896, he started fishing in 1913 and later joined the Scottish Fisheries Museum as a guide in 1971. Robert Muir was born in 1895. Both men were from Cellardyke.

There is a 6 foot gun in background with deflection board. Eight guns were carried on board.
