Three of these young fishermen became skipper-owners after the Second World War: Peter McKinlay, ‘Fiona’ CN165; Neil Speed, ‘Moira’ CN33; and Duncan MacDonald, ‘Golden Hind’ CN199. Thomas Finn McWhirter died, aged 27, when HMT ‘Adonis’ was torpedoed off Lowestoft on 15 April 1943.
