Skiff 'Good Hope' CN68 under regatta rig.
Loch Fyne Skiff ‘Good Hope’ CN68 under sail in Campbeltown Loch, c 1910. White sails were generally reserved for use at annual regattas, but the lack of a white lugsail is a puzzling feature of this photograph. The premier class was entered by skiffs provided with mast, bowsprit and sails especially made for racing, and rigged only once in the year; and the working class was for skiffs using standard gear.

‘Good Hope’ was owned and skippered by Hugh McLean, Campbeltown, and was neighboured by his ‘Good Will’ CN266. McLean, who was born at Loch Gair, Lochfyneside, was popularly credited with having pioneered ring-netting at the Donegal herring fishing in 1904.
