in the foreground: 'Seton Castle' KY64
L-R: 'Spes Melior' KY19; 'Spes Aurea' KY81; 'Sunny Bird' PD86 built 1918 Aberdeen as H.M.D 'Icellar', then became LT733, INS477, BCK68, A571,LT305 and scrapped in 1956.

'Spes Melior' was built by Scott & Sons of Bowling in 1919 for the Admiralty as HMD 'Undertow'. After beginning fishing in 1920 in Buckie as BCK368, she was sold to Cockenzie in 1921 and re-registered LH297. She was sold to William Moncrieff of Cellardyke in 1924 and was one of a number of standard steel drifter/liners sold to Peterhead after the Second World War(becoming PD397) then scrapped at St. Davids.
