Scuttled German battle cruiser, 'Seydlitz', grounded at Lyness, 1920s.
Scuttled German battle cruiser, 'Seydlitz' grounded while being towed bottom up to Rosyth from Lyness, 1920s.

Seydlitz was commissioned in 1913 and was the fourth battlecruiser built for the High Seas fleet. She saw action through World War One, participating in many of the larger battles including Dogger Bank and Jutland. She survived the war, however she was interned at Scapa Flow in 1918 with other surviving German vessels. The ship was scuttled to prevent seizure by the British Royal Navy. She was raised on 2nd November 1928 and towed to Rosyth where she was scrapped in 1930.
