Postcard entitled 'Auctioning Herring, St Monans' taken in the 1920s. The postcard shows fish salesmen auctioning fish from the auctioneers pulpit, with the handbell for announcing the auction by his feet. L-R: Tom Gerrard, Willie Reekie, Jimmy Davidson, Jimmy Tarvit, Philip Easson, Willie Duncan, Jimmy Smith, Tom Bisset, Willie Wilson, Jimmy Lowrie, Tom Fyall, Robbie Duncan,Willie Reekie, David Hott, R. Robertson, Eck Dundee, and Bob Muir. The gentleman at the pulpit is Philip Easson of St Monans. He was the youngest son of John and Euphemia Easson born at 9 Braehead St, St Monans, in 1893 . His father, John, was the master of his own boat 'The Provider', KY81. Philip was a fish auctioneer who travelled across the country auctioning fish. He is pictured in SFM_ auctioning fish. He married Elizabeth Fleming Watson of Cellardyke on 26th December 1924, he was 31 and Elizabeth was 28, and they did not have any children. ANSFM:1975.257 Valentine postcard.
