Herring landed at Campbeltown Old Quay for gutting and curing.
Herring landed at Campbeltown Old Quay for gutting and curing. A search of local newspapers around the given date, 23 September 1905, failed to uncover any evidence of herring landings at Campbeltown. According to the Argyllshire Herald of 30 September 1905, most of the fleet were working on the Ayrshire coast and several crews had left Campbeltown with drift-nets for the west of Ireland.
