'Fiona', CN165, after launch, Campbeltown, 1949.
‘Fiona’ was launched in February 1949 from Fairlie Yacht Slip for Peter McKinlay, Campbeltown, and is pictured in Campbeltown Loch shortly afterwards. She was named after his only daughter. After Peter retired in 1964, the ‘Fiona’ was bought by the brothers Jim and Denis Meenan, who already had the ‘Stella Maris’ CN158. Jim skippered the ‘Stella Maris’ and Denis the ‘Fiona’ in partnership at the ring-net until Jim’s death in 1967. The ‘Stella’ was sold the following year, and Denis continued with the ‘Fiona’, which in 1968 he renamed ‘Stella Maris II’. She was sold to Waterford in 1975.
