She was built in Girvan by Alexander Noble for the McLean family of Mallaig.

‘Westerlea’ was adapted to work a small purse seine-net, but the venture was not a great success, and she was replaced by a purser of the same name.

In 1980, she was sold to Ayr and renamed 'Huntress', BA93.
