Emptying the brail net onboard ringnetter 'Aliped'.

The brailer was first developed in c.1933 by Jock Simpson of Dunure who had seen it operated on Canadian purse seiners. When fish are concentrated alongside the fishing vessel, a brail net is used to lift them aboard.
