Bomb damage in Cellardyke
The rear of 6 Rodger Street, Cellardyke, after being hit by a bomb, 25 October, 1940.

Several 250 Kg bombs were dropped by a Heinkel 111 – a German Luftwaffe bomber, returning to Germany after a raid on the Firth of Forth during World War II.

The image shows people inspecting the severe damage caused to No. 6. They are standing in the rubble of the fishermen’s lofts that were demolished. Most of the houses nearby were also damaged. However, no serious injuries were recorded.

Other bombs fell in the district during the raid and two people were killed at Backfields Farm, Cornceres.
